A Bit About Me

I am the very lucky mama of two boys who have been energetic since the womb!  I am married to my high school sweetie.  We just celebrated our 13 year anniversary.  My how time flies.  We live in a wonderful home on the Central Coast of California.  We are about 8 miles from the beach and don't visit nearly as often as I'd like.

My hubby and I grew up in Sacramento, California.  We both attended Faith Lutheran School in Fair Oaks...although he was 4 years older than me and we did not "meet" until just after my junior year in High School.  Well...it was pretty immediate that we were meant for each other.  17 years later we are still very much in love.  He makes me smile. *Ü*

We sometimes do things a little differently than most.  We had our second son at home in our front room with the help of our lovely Midwives.  It didn't hurt that my labors were very short and not too awful (my second son came about 3 hours after contractions started)...yeah I know...I hear the boos and hisses now! :o)  We have sort of a family bed and I breastfed my boys until they were about 27 months old.  We used cloth diapers and would often hang them in the sun to dry (yeah, I know...a bit odd...but it was wonderful to put those little organic cotton diapers on their tiny baby bums).

We now homeschool and have been thoroughly enjoying playing, building, and just plain having a nice good time outside in our beautiful world.  We share an organic garden with my parents and try to eat as many things as close to how they came out of the ground as possible.  We certainly won't mention my Starbucks Habit, though!!  If it were up to me I think we'd be homesteading in the middle of nowhere on a big farm in the middle of the countryside!  Ah...dreams are good.  Maybe someday we will have land, for now we love out little house.  It's a bit unfortunate that land in California is so expensive.  However, I do know that land elsewhere is more in the affordable range...that realization has actually helped me to be happy with where we are.  We *could* move, but choose to stay here by the beach.

I have been a jewelry designer since 1999.  I started my first website http://www.julesjewelry.com in 2001.  I then started a printing business, but sold it after 2 years because it took way too much time away from my family.  I added http://www.littlegirlspearls.com/ in 2004 and http://www.whimsykisses.com/ in 2006.  I also just opened a little etsy shop to showcase my family's crafty wares as well, aptly named "one crafty family".

I adore what I do!  How amazing is it to wake up every morning and know you get to create things that you love while playing with your kids!  I am truly blessed and never take it for granted.

I have the travel bug!  My mom has told me that we must have gypsy in our blood.  I try to always have some sort of trip planned...whether it be a huge vacation or a day trip to the beach.  It seems I always need to look forward to some sort of trip "away" with my family.

I hope my designs bring as much joy, laughter and happiness to you as they have to me while creating them.

That's about it for me...
